Just finished “Jean-Jacques Rosseau: Restless Genius.” A wonderful read about a seminal thinker. Truly a restless and never satisfied man. He gave a place for the “feeling man” smack dab in the middle of the Enlightenment project with its confidence in reason.
He laid the egg that would hatch Freud and gave testimony to the alienated man that would prove useful to revolutionaries and a flood of sociologists. He seemed to single handedly replaced original sin with the sins of society against the individual.
