Edward Fudge makes a case for annihilationism vs conscious, eternal suffering in Hell

At the Lanier Theological Library site I came across Edward Fudge’s case for annihilationism as the best way to interpret biblical texts on Hell. It is a strong presentation-exegetical, historical, philosophical. All delivered in a strong Texas drawl that keeps it all rather folksy and plain talking.

Interestingly enough he asks no one to make up their mind based on this one lecture. The subject is too large and the issues too important to base all on an hour talk.

  1. Indeed, it is too large and important to make one’s mind up all on one talk. If anybody is interested in researching the topic further, I interviewed Edward Fudge on my podcast last year. Being a Reformed, conservative evangelical, I was a traditional believer in eternal torment, and the interview with Edward Fudge moved me to the fence. Some time thereafter, I interviewed traditionalist author Larry Dixon, further tipping me toward annihilationism. A little later I moderated a debate on the topic, and in December participated in my own debate defending annihilationism. You can find these episodes and more by going to http://theopologetics.podbean.com/category/annihilationism/.

Also, on March 3rd of this year I appeared on the Unbelievable? radio program with Justin Brierley (http://www.premier.org.uk/unbelievable) to defend annihilationism.
