Jonathan Turley makes the point that if there was torture during the Bush administration, then there has to be by law prosecution. I agree. How can you walk away from a crime? This puts Obama’s credibility on the line. It’s easy to accuse. If you accuse, then you must prove it in a court of law. If you accuse and will not prosecute, then that in and of itself seems criminal to me.
I am one of the few who believe that Gerald Ford should not have pardoned Richard Nixon. He commented tht he did it to save us from our long national nightmare. The real nightmare is that a high public official gets immunity simply because he is a high public official. A former President in prison might enable us to take some hope that this is a system of justice where all are equal before the law. I am not afraid of that.
