I jettisoned the message I was going to preach and spent some time reflecting on what we have learned from the Ted Haggard episode. (By the way, his letter of apology to his church seemed well-framed and on target – what feels like an end might be just his new and wonderful beginning). I think we all saw ourselves as Haggards. He is us! We know things are sometimes desperately wrong inside, we push down the demons, deny how bad it is and things just get worse and more desperate.
